The badge contains a hidden microchip and radio aerial. The reader transmits a radio wave signal.
When the radio wave hits the chip in a badge, it automatically makes the badge transmit its identity back to the reader.
Each chip only contains a unique ID number. The computer system then relates the ID number to the delegate’s details (in the same way as a barcode).
